Body warming clothes: Woollen clothes should always be at the top of your list when you are planning to go for a hill holiday. As it is our priority, we end up stuffing our bags with big sweaters. On a trip lasting for a week or less it is always better to invest in a decent body warmer which may help you to stay warm even in the worst weather. Also carry necessary pairs of socks, gloves, and mufflers.
Good shoes: Trip to hills call for long walks, hikes, and treks. Leave your loafers and sandals at door. Carry a pair of shoes or boots which is ideal for hill climbing and trekking.
Medicines & First aid kits: Medicines & first aid kits are a “just in case” product in your bag. Hill stations tend to have a cold climate. If you are prone to fall sick easily, it is vital to have some basic medications in hand.
Also carry necessary medicines to counter motion sickness while driving up or down the hills.
Umbrella or Raincoat: The weather changes surprisingly in certain hilly areas. Rainfalls and snowfall might become an uninvited visitor for your perfect holiday. Carry a lightweight multi-fold umbrella or a raincoat to get through the weather conditions.
Currency: If you are travelling to an offbeat place, it is better to carry enough currency in hand. It is obvious that you don’t want to squander your time searching for an ATM. Street shopping will be easier when you have sufficient currency in hand since the small shops and vendors may not have e-payment facilities.
Skincare: The weather is generally cold and dry in the hilly areas. Carry a moisturizer or a good winter cream to save your skin from drying out. Since hilly areas receive direct sun rays, sunscreen cream should be a must have item in your bag.
Internet & Mobile Connectivity: While hill station holidays are mostly intended to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, connectivity can become a key aspect in some cases. During the holidays, no one wants to be disturbed with constant calls, but connectivity is necessary when we wish to communicate important messages. We recommend you to check with your resort about the connectivity of major mobile operators in that area and availability of high speed Internet at the resort.
